Valeriu Borcoş & Eduard Gabia

Local heros in their native Bucharest but also quite active musical tourists, Karpov not Kasparov have been carrying their instruments throughout Europe during the past 3 years, playing their very energetic and danceable live set in alternative venues from Berlin, Milano, Basel, Florence, Hamburg, Vienna, Torino, Brussels, Budapest, Prague, Warsaw, Belgrade etc. But there's more to it than just the music. You might also see at their gigs ballet dancers, chess games played by the audience, old Russian silent films or theatrical performances. Many of these shows were hosted in rather unconventional locations like an old people's house, train station, a restaurant toilet or a shoe store.

Their debut LP called "Soundtrack for a Game of Chess" has been nominated 'album of the month' by Vice magazine, has been aired on New York radios and is now available on vinyl at the cult Berlin label PolychromeSounds.

Their new record "The Vocal Edits", featuring vocal mixes of the previous instrumental tracks, will soon be available at Fiver House Records.

The band delivers a very optimistic electro-clash sound, with early 80's influence and some jazzy-oriental flavours.
